I can’t believe my boss…

Really bad boss stories…called me on the first day of my vacation to lay me off.  This way she said “you can enjoy the rest of your vacation.”  Then there was the boss who, when I handed him my letter of resignation, snatched the letter out of my hand and screamed “get out now!”  Through my shock and (I’m embarrassed to admit now) tears, I mumbled something about the company car, to which he replied “leave it and take a cab home!”   I did take a cab home, and I have the receipt to prove it.

We all have at least one really bad boss story.  Share yours after the jump.

My comment isn't about my boss, but just about how companies disregard their employees. We all understand that there are budget cuts, but really, sometimes, it’s the little things that annoy you the most. In an effort for corporate to save money, they are going around setting all the thermostats in the office (and using nails so we can't change it back). It’s not bad enough that they gave us a pay cut and a furlough day, but now, we can't even be comfortable while we work just as hard, for less.

Thanks j_r_s. Yeah, a commendation just doesn't seem too commendary when they make you put it in yourself. But, at least you have the first commendation on record, which should look really good on your resume. As for the second boss..he sounds like a real jerk.

Twice I was called in my boss's office (different bosses) and told to put myself in for a commendation. I was stunned, especially the first time, but I went ahead and wrote myself up, submitted it, and got one of twelve commendations awarded in the entire USA.

The second time, I said, “This doesn't seem too heartfelt – having to write myself up.” He said, “You're right; I'll take care of it.” He didn't and I got nada.
