Newsweek did a story this week about why powerful people overestimate themselves. The story was based on a study published in the current issue of the journal, Psychological Science. Stanford University business professors, Nathanael Fast and Deborah Gruenfeld led the team that performed the experiments. The bottom line according to the authors, “power may cause people to lose touch with reality in ways that lead to overconfident decision-making.” If you’ve ever had a really bad boss you’re asking yourself why they needed a study to figure that out.
